Worldvision Home Video
Worldvision Home Video was the video distribution division of Worldvision Enterprises (not to be confused with the charitable organization World Vision International).
History[edit]
Worldvision Home Video was originally formed in late 1981 by Worldvision Enterprises, Inc., to release titles on home video, from the libraries of Hanna-Barbera, Ruby-Spears and QM Productions, as well as acquired content. Albert Hartigan was hired as executive vice president and Martin Weinstein as the sales manager of the home video company.
In 1986, it secured a deal with GoodTimes Home Video to rerelease Worldvision's titles for a budget-priced range, most notably Hanna-Barbera, which released its titles under Kids Klassics.
In 1987, Worldvision's parent company Taft Broadcasting, became Great American Communications, and a year later, sold off Worldvision Enterprises, including its home video business to Spelling Entertainment. As a result, Hanna-Barbera spun off its home video line as Hanna-Barbera Home Video, allowing to release Hanna-Barbera content on its own. In 1991, Hanna-Barbera was sold to Turner, cutting all ties to Worldvision.
In 1993, Spelling Entertainment bought out Republic Pictures, and the Worldvision label was folded into Republic Pictures.
