Feature Films for Families
History[edit]
Feature Films for Families was originally formed in 1988 by Forrest Baker as Family Films. It later changed its name to Feature Films for Families soon afterwards to avoid confusion with another distributor using the Family Films name. The company specialized in family films, hence the name. The company also offered edited versions of such films as Hoosiers and SpaceCamp, predating the launch of several other Utah-based editing services by many years. The company also licensed titles from companies such as Celebrity Home Entertainment.
In 2003, the company bought out longtime rival SandStar Family Entertainment. In 2011, the company was renamed to Stepping Stones Entertainment. In 2018, the company was fined by the Federal Trade Commission for $45.5 million because it did more than 117 million illegal telemarketing calls to people in the Do Not Call Registry between 2007 and 2011. After the lawsuit closed, the company launched its own online streaming service.
