Cannon Video

History

The Cannon Video label was used as early as mid-1986 when Thorn EMI's entertainment assets were sold off to The Cannon Group.

In the U.S. and Canada, Cannon's releases were generally distributed by either International Video Entertainment, Vestron Video, King of Video, Media Home Entertainment, MGM/UA Home Video, Warner Home Video, or MCA Home Video. That changed in June 1988, when Cannon launched an actual home video label, called Cannon Video. Two months later, Cannon secured a marketing and distribution deal with Warner Home Video, and former Lorimar Home Video executive Evan Fisher became the director for the Cannon Video label.

In the mid-1990s, Cannon ceased operations, and shut down the home video label.
