Blu-ray
Blu-ray is a format introduced in 2006 that competed with the short lived HD-DVD format. The concept for the format traces back to 2003 with the introduction of the Professional Disc which was an unrelated format, however it used the same blue laser technology that would later be implemented as part of the video format. The format is best known for being implemented as the main format of the PlayStation 3 gaming system and would be used for later gaming systems.
