SouthGate Entertainment

From Home Video

History[edit]

In 1989, SouthGate Entertainment was formed as a home video distribution company. Some of the company's executives, including its founder, Yoram Pelman, previously held jobs at Trans World Entertainment and home video distributors. The company soon expanded into theatrical distribution.

In 1991, it merged its home video business with Shapiro Glickenhaus Entertainment to form Video Sales Organization. When VSO folded that year, Hemdale Home Video acquired the rights to some of the catalog's titles. SouthGate would shut down in 1992.
