Trans World Entertainment

From Home Video

Trans World Entertainment was formed in 1983 by Moshe Diamant and Eduard Sarlui, the latter founded Continental Motion Pictures with her sister Helen.

In 1984, the company signed agreements with Viacom Enterprises and Ziv International to bring 200 titles to videocassette, and latter on, expanded to motion picture production. Most of TWE's theatrical film titles go to friend Media Home Entertainment, who had signed a deal in 1986.

In 1985, the company merged with Cardinal Entertainment to form a joint company Cardinal/TWE. Three years later, in 1988, the company bought out Empire International Pictures, owners of Wizard Video, and would go on to form Epic Productions.

In 1989, the company signed a deal with RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video to distribute its titles. The company soon renamed its home video division to Epic Home Video. Epic and Vision International also started another home video label, Vision Home Video, shortly afterwards.

Amidst the troubles of its parent, Epic Productions, the label shuttered in 1994.
