How to Tell
- Earlier tapes would have printings above the spot where the recording tab would be, like this for example:
T-100
024888-2
Beginning around 1990, this was changed to engraved letters and numbers.
- Some earlier tapes also had a sticker with information on it on the bottom middle side, like this for example:

Around 1990, this was changed to printings on the tape guard. Sometimes, it would appear like this for example:

- Some RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video tapes duplicated by this company had a black screen test pattern with a 1133hz tone at the end.
