Talk:Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment

From Home Video

I think I'm gonna need some help...

Now, I don't like to complain, but when it comes to Disney and home media, they have an outrageous library of titles - I mean, take a look at DisneyVHSMuseum's VHS/Beta collection. Lately, I've been doing much of the work on this page myself, and I can't do it alone. And much of the information I find on the web is either outdated or inaccurate. Perhaps if someone could help contribute this page now and then.

@MrServoRetro: Apparently, there also exists early-mid 2000s later pressings of the 1994 live-action “The Jungle Book”. Some from that date range originally shipped to Wal-Mart stores, but are now on eBay. DisneyVHSMuseum has a 2003 pressing of that one with the blue tape guard, printed on April 9th of that year, and it still uses the same print master contents as the original 1995 VHS release. From what I have seen, some factory sealed copies on eBay have shipped dates of May, June or September 2003, on their price stickers. This video and this eBay link are the proof. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:8C2A:31CB:C3C2:28D2 00:58, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

Possible rarity of a Disney tape I got today

So today, I got the 1992 VHS release of “The Great Mouse Detective” (1986), which I was supposed to get for my 14th birthday on Friday. It was factory sealed and had a Toys R Us sticker when I got it, but now it’s opened. My copy is actually the 01-29-1993 re-issue, with the Proof of Purchase tab label above the back cover (which I had removed when opening the tape), while the original 07-19-1992 issue did not. When I opened the clam shell case, there were no inserts or anything, just the tape inside. On the bottom side of my copy, the print date code reads 012394-E, meaning my copy was printed on January 23, 1994. What the letter E means or stands for — I’m assuming it’s just some sort of shift code prefix. I checked the opening to my copy, and it still has the preview for “Aladdin” at the beginning of it. Based on the print date on my copy, is my copy a rare copy of the tape? 2600:387:15:61A:0:0:0:C 23:39, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
