The CBS/Fox Company[edit]

While I understand that the 1937 film "Heidi" entered the public domain and that Viking Video Classics/Troy Gold (later merged into Burbank Video) and Video Treasures released their own VHS editions of the film, I never knew that Video Cassette Duplicating Corp. had pressed some copies of the CBS/Fox Video release of the film. How can you tell if you have a copy of the CBS/Fox release that was pressed by Video Cassette Duplicating Corp.? 69.85.235.48 14:28, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

  • I might have been thinking about a different duplicator, but a copy I saw at Goodwill had a number in large white ink, on the bottom middle side of the cassette, which I presume is the tape length. --IlCattivo25 (talk) 20:26, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

Interesting. I think I have come across some Viking Video, Troy Gold and Burbank Video tapes before that appeared to have that printing. I own some Viking and Troy Gold tapes from the late '80s with that printing, although I don't have any Burbank Video tapes with that printing. In fact, I own a 1991 Burbank Video reprint of the '86 Viking release of "Hoppy Serves a Writ", and the 1991 Burbank Video release of "The Little Princess" which reuses the '88 Troy Gold cover, and they do not have that large white printing. And although some of my Burbank Video tapes were pressed at Video Cassette Duplicating Corp.'s Cincinatti, OH plant, the other Burbank Video tapes that I own were pressed at Technicolor's Livonia, MI plant, presumably after Video Cassette Duplicating Corp. ceased operations, except for my copy of "Christmas Classics" which I believe was duplicated at Allied Digital Technologies Corp. but still uses a Technicolor master. I wonder if there exists some Hal Roach (pre-Video Treasures) tapes with the large white printing. 69.85.235.48 11:57, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
