Prism Entertainment
History
[edit]Prism Entertainment was originally founded in 1984 by Barry Collier to handle videocassette releases. In 1985, the company had secured deals with Metromedia Producers Corporation and Marvel Comics to issue their properties on videocassette. The deal with the latter soon lapsed within a year. Also that year, the company partnered with American National Enterprises to set up the A.N.E. Home Video imprint.
In 1989, the company secured a distribution deal Paramount Home Video, which soon lapsed within a year. In 1991, it partnered with Saban Entertainment to finance films for international distribution. A year later, the company would launch Prism Pictures as a film production division.
In 1994, the company secured a distribution deal with Turner Home Entertainment. The company closed in 1997, a year after Turner Broadcasting System itself merged with Time Warner.
