New World Video

From Home Video

History[edit]

Prior to the launch of its home video arm, New World's titles, under Roger Corman, are mainly released by Warner Home Video, Media Home Entertainment, Nelson Entertainment and Thorn EMI Video. In late 1984, New World Pictures formed its own home video division, New World Video, initially to market and distribute titles. During that time, the company acquired Learning Corporation of America, an educational supplier and became a division of the company. In 1987, the company secured a deal with Empire Pictures.

In January 1990, after parent company New World Entertainment filed for bankruptcy and purchased by investor Ronald O. Perelman, the video assets were sold to Trans Atlantic Entertainment, a company formed by New World's former co-chairmen. The video assets were sold to R&G Video, an affiliate company of Starmaker Entertainment.
