How to Tell

  • Most tapes duplicated by GTK Duplicating Co. were duplicated on cassettes manufactured in either Hong Kong or Taiwan, and had the audio track duplicated in linear only, although many SP tapes produced by GTK Duplicating Co. after early 2003 did have a hi-fi audio track in addition to a linear track.
  • Post-1986 tapes have a black screen test pattern with the 1000 Hz tone at the end.
  • Pre-1998 tapes have the record tab intact, while post-1998 tapes omitted it.
  • Certain 1997-2005 tapes were duplicated on cassettes manufactured in Korea.

Notes

  • GoodTimes Home Video Corp. was founded in 1984 after the Cayne Brothers left Salsoul Records. It was bought out by Gaiam in 2005, then renamed to GT Media. When GoodTimes Entertainment was formed in 1993 as the holding organization, its video game division, GT Interactive Software, was also formed. Its video game division was sold off to Infogrames Entertainment of South America in 1999.
