Academy Entertainment

From Home Video

History[edit]

Academy Entertainment was originally formed in 1984 by Roger Reese as Academy Home Entertainment, as a unit of Artec, Inc., dedicated to videocassettes of mostly feature films. In 1987, it was renamed to simply Academy Entertainment. It quickly became a major supplier of independent movies on videocassette. In 1988, it expanded to laserdisc production, eventually licensing the titles to Image Entertainment.

In 1994, Artec sold the company to Communications & Entertainment Corp., and subsequently stopped video production, eventually closing within a few years.
