History

York Entertainment was founded in 1990 as a film production company called York Pictures, headed by production assistant Tanya York. York later founded its own home video division, York Home Video, in 1992.

Most of the company's output was generally low budget B-movies.

In 1998, York partnered with Maverick Entertainment Group, in which the former marketed the latter's titles. This lasted until 2002.

In late 1999, the company was rebranded under the York Entertainment name, and the York Pictures and York Home Video names disappeared. In 2004, the company was sold to Loose Cannon Films.
