Disney's Sing-Along Songs: You Can Fly! (1988)

[edit]
  1. How many VHS copies of this DSAS episode do you own?
  2. What do the printing(s) on your copy(s) read, including the print/pressing date(s)?
  3. Do your copy(s) have the original 1988 Betamax-style sticker label, the 1990 vertical sticker label, the 1992 horizontal silkscreen-inked label and/or the 1994 horizontal silkscreen-inked label?
  4. Which one of your copies did you take the "TVC 5" VBI from?

69.85.235.224 17:13, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

  1. Just this one.
  2. I didn't see any printings.
  3. Sticker label
  4. My only copy.

--TheVideoLover (talk) 00:28, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Was it the vertical label or the Betamax square/horizontal label? And did it have a barcode sticker on the left side of the tape?

I'm also assuming the printing was originally there but it must've been faded at some point over the years. 69.85.235.224 11:42, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Was your copy packaged in the original 1988 cover (662-1), the late 1988 revised cover (662-2), the 1989 revised cover (with the ISBN code) or the 1990 cover? 69.85.235.224 12:00, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

I don't quite remember, to be completely honest with you. --TheVideoLover (talk) 02:25, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

Paramount Home Video Seal Stickers

[edit]

What was the earliest known use of the white seal sticker with the blue Paramount logo (with the byline "A VIACOM COMPANY")? That seal sticker started to be used in mid-1998.

Prior to mid-1998, PHV seal stickers were either silver (in the U.S.) or gold (in Canada).

69.85.235.45 19:03, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

I don't really know, to be completely honest.

Chato's Land

[edit]

Look more closely. The box may say 1990, and indeed it was released in mid-1990, but the catalog number is also inked right there with the rest of the WCVD markings, which, unless I read them wrong, clearly mark the print date as 112188. I'm not 100% about the situation, but I'm guessing MGM/UA planned a release for early 1989 that ended up being spectacularly delayed, and the box art wasn't created or at least copyrighted until after the actual release date was finalized. --IlCattivo25 (talk) 02:30, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

Oh. But there might be more printings under the MGM/UA hologram sticker. --TheVideoLover (talk) 02:32, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

Looks like the printing format's had me had. Turns out, that wasn't the print date. It just goes to show, really, that I need to study the more complex printings on my tapes more often. --IlCattivo25 (talk) 08:48, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

IlCattivo25, I know that this has nothing to do with WCVD or MGM/UA, but your previous assumptions on that tape began to remind me of my previous assumptions on my Technicolor Livonia, MI copy of "The Little Mermaid" (1989) 1990 release from Walt Disney Home Video. The printings on my copy said "T-83-AFT-3190". I previously assumed the 3190 meant my copy was manufactured on the 319th day of 1990 (November 15, 1990), but after finding out that Technicolor's Livonia, MI plant had phased out those particular formats of printings in mid-1990 in favor of the style printings similar to those used by the other plant in Newbury Park, CA, I started to realize that my copy was manufactured on the 31st day of 1990 (January 31, 1990) instead and they may have forgot to put the 0 in between the dash and the three. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:C8A7:F574:636E:7412 19:41, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

Okay, so I know that this is an old thread. There used to be rumors that the 1992 MNTEX Entertainment VHS release of this movie reused the 1990 MGM/UA Home Video tape master. Back then, it was rumored that New Concorde absorbed MNTEX. The New Concorde/MNTEX rumor has been disproved, since it's confirmed that Video Treasures/Anchor Bay was the one who absorbed MNTEX (In fact, the templates of the face labels used on most Anchor Bay releases between 1995-2000 were inherited from MNTEX), but has not been removed yet. I'm pretty sure that it's also confirmed that the 1997 Anchor Bay Charles Bronson Triple Feature Vol. II tape (which includes this movie) does not reuse the 1990 MGM/UA master for this movie. But what I wonder is if the 1992 MNTEX release did use the MGM/UA master originally, or if it used MNTEX's own master. 69.85.235.235 16:40, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Duplication Factory and The Lyons Group

[edit]

Since you left the Lyons Group claim intact on the Duplication Factory page, have you actually found proof on Lyons Group being a DF client? 47.17.104.88 15:48, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

I actually forgot to remove the claim. --TheVideoLover (talk) 21:37, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

Does the aforementioned tape have anything in the VBI? 47.17.104.88 03:46, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

I'll need to check it again. I'll do so ASAP, and I will let you know if it has anything in the vertical blanking interval. In the meantime, you can check out my upload of the entire tape on my YouTube channel (TheVideoLover3).--TheVideoLover (talk) 04:27, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

Which tape do you have from this company? --IlCattivo25 (talk) 20:44, 6 July 2024 (UTC)

I don't think I have any tapes by that company. Maybe I found out about it from an eBay listing. --TheVideoLover (talk) 21:52, 6 July 2024 (UTC)

It was Lovejoy's College Guide: Preparing the College Application Package. --TheVideoLover (talk) 22:15, 6 July 2024 (UTC)

Jingle Bells (FHE/Artisan)

[edit]

Did copies of that tape that had blue sided barcode stickers, including the copy you got yesterday, have numbers on the left corner of the VBI at the beginning? 69.118.23.185 00:55, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

Yes to both. Also, before you ask me about what numbers pop up, it's 95390 18721. The rest of the tape after the first few seconds of black screen at the beginning says DELUXE32.--TheVideoLover (talk) 00:57, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

Rugrats on VHS

[edit]

Which Rugrats VHS tapes did you use to have when you were collecting them, and which ones do you currently have? For me, I currently have 22 Rugrats titles on VHS (including 2 All Grown Up! titles). 69.85.235.235 16:43, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

I used to try getting as many as I could. --TheVideoLover (talk) 21:14, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

Have you ever thought about looking at the VBI on your copies of these tapes? --TheVideoLover (talk) 04:30, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

I’ve looked at the VBIs of some of them. Also, before you ask, my copy of "The Santa Experience" is in SP mode even though the back of the packaging has the "Duplicated in EP/SLP" notice (at least the label on the front of the tape doesn't). Same with my copy of "Make Room for Dil". My copy of "Discover America", on the other hand, is in EP/SLP mode, and so are all of my pre-2000 tapes. All of the EP/SLP Rugrats tapes I have (excluding my two Canadian ones) have two sets of numbers on the VBI at the beginning and the grayish-white screen with the 1000hz tone (commonly known as the "White Screen of Death") at the end. I do wonder if very early official copies of "Make Room for Dil" were dubbed in EP/SLP instead of SP, due to the back of its packaging having the EP/SLP notice.

I have even seen some 1997-1998 official printings of "Tales from the Crib", "Chuckie the Brave", "Phil and Lil: Double Trouble", "Tommy Troubles", "Return of Reptar", "A Rugrats Vacation", and "Diapered Duo" and at least YouTube user Fabian's Media Corner 2001's late 1998 printing of the Blockbuster exclusive "Rugrats on the Loose", that were dubbed in SP instead of EP/SLP, yet the backs of their packagings and their front labels still have the "Duplicated in EP/SLP" notice. I never understood how lazy Paramount could’ve possibly been to make variants of the packagings and/or front labels. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:95D6:D579:BB5F:802D 05:27, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

In fact, I also wonder if there are any copies of Make Room for Dil with the white screen of death at all. TheVideoLover (talk) 05:54, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

Speaking of Nickelodeon, I recently found out that some rare copies of the VHS of "SpongeBob SquarePants: SpongeGuard on Duty" were dubbed in EP/SLP mode instead of SP; I wonder if such copies have the grayish-white screen with 1000hz tone ("White Screen of Death") at the end. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:D980:23C6:94B1:CCD3 17:52, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

TheVideoLover, did you have the Decade in Diapers VHS tapes at one point? I have both of them, and they both use an orange cassette; my copy of Volume 1 was manufactured during the 27th week of 2001 (DLX 127), while my copy of Volume 2 was manufactured during the 29th (DLX 129). 69.85.235.229 13:43, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Nope. --TheVideoLover (talk) 23:02, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Do you remember what the manufacturing date (or otherwise known as "print date") was on the "Tales from the Crib: Snow White" VHS you used to have, and what the overall printings looked like on the tape? Also, was the face label on the tape a sticker or was it inked/silkscreened, and were the reels on the tape black or white? My copy of the VHS has white reels, the face label on it is a white sticker (with black lettering), and the manufacturing date says September 2, 2005 at 9:09 AM EDT (090205-0909). 69.85.235.229 13:26, 5 December 2024 (UTC)

I think mine was the same, but it's been so long, I can't even remember the time printed.--TheVideoLover (talk) 01:07, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

Did you also have the "Easter" and "Halloween" VHS tapes? I've recently got both of them from eBay. The copy of the former I got was manufactured during the 1st week of 2005 (DLX 501), while the latter was manufactured during the 33rd week of 2003 (DLX 333 mirrored for some weird reason). 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:B96A:2C34:B893:1151 01:08, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Nope. --TheVideoLover (talk) 01:44, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Do you at least have the "SpongeBob SquarePants: Halloween" tape? I'm asking this as I saw your video of the opening to both tapes. If you do have it, what is the manufacturing date (print date) on your copy? 69.85.235.229 19:03, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Yes, and my copy is printed in the 38th week of 2004 (DLX 438). --TheVideoLover (talk) 23:28, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Was your copy recycled from an unsold copy of another tape? If so, what does the old date code on the tape guard say? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:95CD:E397:F56B:8B26 01:35, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

Anchor Bay Entertainment - Burbank Video

[edit]

Do you have any Burbank Video tapes that are 1995-99 Allied DT printings and/or 1992-95 Technicolor printings? I have around 30 something Burbank Video releases and many of them are 1992-94 Technicolor printings. I have some tapes that are 1991-92 Video Cassette Duplicating Corp. printings, as well as two that are late 1995 Allied DT printings (1991 VHS release of "Godzilla vs. Megalon", uses 1993 box and 1995 Anchor Bay label, and 1994 VHS release of "Burbank Combat Classics - WWII: Weapons of War" which uses 1991 box and 1991 label). 68.35.208.19 01:06, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

I don't know about Burbank Video, but I do have a few Anchor Bay tapes by ADT. --TheVideoLover (talk) 04:13, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

What about Premiere Video printings of Anchor Bay releases? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:A463:498C:ABDB:14E9 16:53, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

I have a few of those as well. --TheVideoLover (talk) 22:44, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

Any Burbank Video tapes you have where the Video Treasures logo is on the tape's front label, instead of the Burbank Video one? I have a few of them like that, such as a 1992/93 printing of the 1991 VHS of "Hollywood Matinee Serials - Flash Gordon", a 1993 printing of the 1990 VHS of "The Memphis Belle", the 1993 releases of "Charade" and "Abbott & Costello: Jack and the Beanstalk", and 1994 printings of a few Combat Classics/World War II black-packaging tapes. I also have at least one Burbank tape where no logo is on the label - that being a 1991/92 printing of the 1990 VHS of "The Story of Elvis Presley". 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:FCF7:6448:C467:480 03:53, 8 September 2024 (UTC)

I don't think I have any tapes like that. --TheVideoLover (talk) 04:30, 8 September 2024 (UTC)

Prepare to be shocked looking at the description of this video. TheVHSandCDBrony recently got a 1999 Anchor Bay-era Allied DT printing of the 1993 Burbank Video release of "Of Human Bondage", and look what the description says!

Pretty surprising, compared to Sam AKA Dank Mozart's 1993 Technicolor printing of this release.

I wonder if TheVHSandCDBrony's copy has anything in the vertical blanking interval before the film. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:E1E1:E644:C53D:C723 00:35, 28 September 2024 (UTC)

IDK...--TheVideoLover (talk) 04:42, 28 September 2024 (UTC)

And TheVHSandCDBrony has recently ordered another two 1993 Burbank Video Hollywood Favorites tapes, which are of "A Star is Born" and "A Farewell to Arms"! I'm interested to see about both tapes (if they are either pre-1995 Technicolor or post-1995 Allied DT printings) once he gets them and makes an update video each on them. Although I know that Sam AKA Dank Mozart has a 1999 Allied DT printing of the former tape and has uploaded the opening to it (so most likely, TheVHSandCDBrony's copy will probably have the same opening as Sam AKA Dank Mozart's). 69.85.235.235 18:04, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

ANOTHER UPDATE: Okay, so, JHartVHSandCDFanatic2000 (formerly TheVHSandCDBrony) has confirmed in one of his recent collection videos that he currently has a total of seven Burbank Video Hollywood Favorites tapes. And out of all of the seven he has, they're all late '90s Anchor Bay-era Allied DT printings. If I remember correctly, the seventh tape he's recently got is "Stage Door Canteen", which bizarrely enough still uses the older inked/silkscreened face label with the Video Treasures logo at the top. Even more bizarre is that his copy of "Stage Door Canteen" goes straight to the film (No Video Treasures or Burbank Video logos). I don't know if 1993-1995 Technicolor printings had the VT or Burbank logos on-screen on the tape. All of the other Burbank Hollywood Favorites tapes he has use Anchor Bay's MNTEX-style face labels (on some of the tapes, the labels were written in a cheesy bitrate-style font). 69.85.235.235 17:23, 1 November 2024 (UTC)

Technicolor Home Entertainment Services (Livonia, Michigan)

[edit]

What is the earliest tape you have from this plant that has the DTMF tones at the beginning and end? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:4DB4:CCE1:A1FD:8E28 20:01, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

I think it might be Wee Willie Winkie. --TheVideoLover (talk) 21:35, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

And what is the latest tape you have from this plant with this manner? (whether it be from the late '90s or the 2000s). The earliest tape I have from this plant with this manner is "The Little Mermaid" (1990, Walt Disney Home Video/Buena Vista Home Video) (T-83-AFT-3190, or January 31, 1990). The latest tape I have from this plant with this manner is "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" (1996, Walt Disney Home Video/Buena Vista Home Video) (021096, or February 10, 1996). My April 2000 printing of "Pocahontas" from Walt Disney Home Video/Buena Vista Home Entertainment, along with my 2002 and January 2003 printings of "Cinderella II: Dreams Come True" and "Belle's Magical World", respectively, from Walt Disney Home Entertainment/Buena Vista Home Entertainment, were made at this plant, on the same machines, along with my 2002 printing of "The Sixth Sense" from Hollywood Pictures Home Video/Buena Vista Home Entertainment and my June 2005 printing of "All Grown Up!: Dude, Where's My Horse?" (Canadian copy) and my September 2005 printings of "Rugrats Tales from the Crib: Snow White" and "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown" from Paramount Home Entertainment, but they don't have the DTMF tones for some reason.

69.85.235.235 14:55, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

The latest that I detected on any of my tapes so far was one of my 2003 Warner Home Video copies of VeggieTales - Esther: The Girl Who Became Queen. --TheVideoLover (talk) 21:37, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

And what is the latest tape you have from this plant where the right corner of the VBI says "TVC" throughout the entire tape? I've noticed that by 1998 or 1999, the plant seems to have ditched that manner. 68.35.208.19 22:00, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

I don't think I know. I might have to look at these tapes again.--TheVideoLover (talk) 00:35, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

How many copies do you have of the WHV mass-market release of "VeggieTales - Esther: The Girl Who Became Queen" anyway? Are there any technical differences in between the copies you have of that exact release? 69.85.235.235 18:25, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

Two, this being one of them. I'll need to check both of them again. --TheVideoLover (talk) 21:54, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

Disney’s Sing-Along Songs: The 12 Days of Christmas

[edit]

While skimming around copies of the 1993 release on eBay, I discovered a copy, in which, either the bottom spine appears to have no printings, or, provided that it still does, the printings are black instead of the usual grey/white. And "BVHV" is still engraved on the tape. On the right side.

Strange/unusual, eh? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:AD10:39CE:4B9C:A421 01:04, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

And I literally just discovered another strange/unusual copy. It looks like this one does not have any printings. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:AD10:39CE:4B9C:A421 01:15, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Well then, I wonder if this copy was from a different duplication company. --TheVideoLover (talk) 01:36, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that both of the strange/unusual copies still came from Technicolor. In fact, if these weren’t strange/unusual in the first place, I wonder if the previous owner(s) tried to erase the printings or something. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:E5FB:6FC:8411:A4C6 01:45, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Moratorium Dates/Some Tapes

[edit]

Speaking of moratorium dates, what are the latest copies you’ve seen of some 1996-97 Paramount Home Video Rugrats VHS tapes?

For me, the latest copies I’ve seen of A Rugrats Vacation and The Santa Experience were manufactured in late 2001 (DLX 140 and DLX 143, respectively, the latter confirmed by YouTube user Fabian’s Media Corner 2001’s copy). Yet, the latest copies I’ve seen of the other titles, namely Tales from a Crib, A Baby's Gotta Do What a Baby's Gotta Do, Angelica the Divine, Chuckie the Brave, were manufactured in late 1999. Funnily enough, while my copy of the former was manufactured in November 1999 (DLX 946), my copies of the latter three were manufactured in mid-1999 (DLX 926, DLX 932 and DLX 934, respectively). I’ve even noticed that some of these copies were known to be sold at Wal-Mart stores between 2003-04 for $3.88 and that some other 1996-99 Nick/Paramount tapes were known to be sold at discount stores, namely Dollar Generals, between 2005-2008. (UPDATE 11/16/2024: I’ve just encountered a copy of "A Rugrats Vacation" manufactured in early 2002 (DLX 209).)

And the latest copies I’ve seen of "A Rugrats Passover" were manufactured in early 1999. In fact, my copy of that tape was manufactured then (PAR 905). Despite this, when I happened across this title on some older revisions of the Nick Shop website (via the Internet Archive Wayback Machine), its thumbnail was an updated artwork with the wavy orange bacon; however, I am not sure if there are really later copies of the tape with that artwork.

I’ve pretty much wondered if there were copies of these tapes manufactured later than what I’m describing. For example, the DVD version of "Rugrats: Mysteries" (released January 2003) derives its bonus episodes from the VHS "Grandpa's Favorite Stories" (originally released 1997); therefore, I’ve wondered if there existed physical copies of the "Grandpa’s Favorite Stories" tape manufactured between 2002-06; and the "Turkey and Mistletoe" disc of the 2-DVD set "Rugrats Holiday Celebration" (released 2004) recycles the prints of some episodes from the masters for the older VHS releases (namely "The Turkey Who Came to Dinner" recycled from 1997's "A Rugrats Thanksgiving", "A Rugrats Kwanzaa" recycled from 2001's "Rugrats: Kwanzaa", and "Chanukah" recycled from 1997's "A Rugrats Chanukah"); therefore, I’ve also wondered if there existed physical copies of such tapes (as well as "The Santa Experience") manufactured between 2002-06.

Magnolia duplicated their discs at Cinram

[edit]

Magnolia might have duplicated their earlier discs at the Cinram plant in Olyphant. This is because the Cinram logo appears at the end on some Magnolia releases. What do you think? EsaïeGregoryPrickett (talk) 20:47, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

I suppose it's possible... But only further research will tell us for sure.--TheVideoLover (talk) 22:12, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

Then again, it’s possible that Cinram might have only provided authoring / compression of some discs while another company handled the duplication. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:6D66:2E9B:13B5:BF3D 22:27, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

I checked one of my Magnolia DVDs I have and it has a teeny tiny code on the back: IFPI L908. EsaïeGregoryPrickett (talk) 01:51, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

So what does that code mean, and what DVD was it? --TheVideoLover (talk) 01:53, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

That’s an SID code that he was referring to. Here’s some information on what SID codes are. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:40DA:1BB0:EC2B:4232 02:00, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

An interesting printing…

[edit]

Okay, so just now, I discovered an interesting copy of this Eureeka's Castle tape.

Unfortunately this one is very expensive. But as you can see, the packaging for the Sony Wonder release is used. Yet, look what’s at the left spine.

I’m not sure if this is really the Paramount release, considering the UPC barcode sticker that says "SNY" (Sony).

Inside Country Music

[edit]

The printings on your copy, did any like those ever appear on Simitar or FFFF tapes? --IlCattivo25 (talk) 07:21, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

I doubt it; I don't remember seeing any printings like that on any of my tapes from those two companies, nor did I see them in any eBay listings. What makes you ask me that?--TheVideoLover (talk) 09:33, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

The fact that I connected the company that made it to the same duplicator that retained L.A. Hero as a client in the early '90s. You'll find it under Duplicator #40 in Unknown duplicators as of writing. --IlCattivo25 (talk) 09:57, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

I saw that. If only we could find out what company was responsible for these printings. --TheVideoLover (talk) 10:00, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Well, in about a week, I can probably eliminate ABC from the list of contenders, as I'm expecting an Olympics tape that was duplicated there, after the company became Audio-Video-Color Corporation, within that timeframe. Can you focus on Rainbow Quest tapes, which AS&V (another possible contender) duplicated? --IlCattivo25 (talk) 06:59, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Disney's Sing-Along Songs

[edit]

How many Disney's Sing-Along Songs tapes do you have?

For me, I have:

  1. "Heigh-Ho" (1987) (1990 release) (Mfg. date: 03/31/1993)
  2. "The Bare Necessities" (1987) (1987 release w/1990 packaging and face label) (Mfg. date: 04/13/1992)

  10. "The Twelve Days of Christmas" (1993) (1993 release) (Mfg. date: 11/03/1993)
  11. "Let's Go to the Circus"* (1994) (1994 release) (Mfg. date: 03/31/1994)
  12. "Campout at Walt Disney World"* (1994) (1994 release) (Mfg. date: 04/01/1994)
  13. "Circle of Life" (1994) (1994 release) (Mfg. date: 11/14/1994)
  14. "Colors of the Wind" (1995) (1995 release) (Mfg. date: 06/27/1995)

NOTE #1: * indicates a title from the series' short-lived offshoot, Mickey's Fun Songs.

NOTE #2: As for "Disneyland Fun", I plan to get either the 1990 release, the 1993 release, or a copy of the 1994 release that reuses the 1990 packaging, when I plan to donate my 2001 copy.

Show Biz Bloopers

[edit]

Besides Marbowe Corporation, that low-budget compilation tape had been issued by several budget home video suppliers such as Parents Approved Video and Simitar Entertainment. (Plus, I believe at one point, Parents Approved had a counterpart dedicated strictly to Canadian releases, called CobyCo Marketing, dba CobyCo Home Video.)

On your copy of this tape, does the back of the packaging even mention Marbowe Corporation? Although I know that Marbowe is mentioned at the title card at the beginning of the tape.

2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:25E0:9295:CF90:706B 01:11, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

Dr. Tommy Pickles

[edit]

Just now, I discovered this copy of "Rugrats: Dr. Tommy Pickles". It still uses the original 1998 slip sleeve and is still in EP/SLP, but look at the face label on the cassette itself. (You can also notice that they erased the "Duplicated in EP/SLP" notice on the label.) I wonder if maybe you can ask the seller of this copy what the 3-digit number below the "DLX" on the tape guard says on this.

Rugrats: Tommy Troubles

[edit]

On your copy, even though it’s an EP/SLP tape (technically), was the black screen with the "moaning sound" blare in SP mode? Again, I’m asking this, because my copy of "Return of Reptar" (PAR 716) is like that. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:B579:F3B5:2D01:9406 04:44, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

Yes. --TheVideoLover (talk) 04:48, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the confirmation. BTW, what other RVSA EP/SLP tapes do you have that are in this exact manner (if you can remember)? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:B579:F3B5:2D01:9406 04:52, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

Most of the ones I have are in this manner. --TheVideoLover (talk) 05:36, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

Hook (Demo VHS)

[edit]

About the manufacturing date (or otherwise known as print date) on said tape, was the tape recycled from another tape? I'm asking this, because I find it weird that a 1992 tape would have a date from 1990, unless the tape really was recycled from another tape. 2600:387:15:61B:0:0:0:3 06:49, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

It really does say March 30, 1990. I'll tell you what the overall printings say in that area of the tape:

  T-160 033090 M
  41-G 0931 P

In addition, the printings on the left side say:

70603 002

1339 146978--TheVideoLover (talk) 06:57, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Hmm, maybe this WAS recycled from another tape… Either that, or the year part of the date might have been numbered incorrectly by accident. 2600:387:15:61B:0:0:0:3 07:07, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Forrest Gump 1995 VHS - Your 2003 Printing

[edit]
  1. Did it have the 90th Anniversary Paramount seal sticker?
  2. Are there colored left and right sides of the ITF barcode sticker on the tape?
  3. Even though the white screen test pattern was only a second, did it have the 2 sets of numbers, with the first set being the ITF prefix number without the extra zeros, in the vertical blanking interval at the beginning?

2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:D86:C661:D2DA:F5A9 01:25, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

No to the last two questions. As for the first question, I will need to check again. --TheVideoLover (talk) 02:22, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

Also,

4. Does the white sticker face label on the tape itself have the blue lettering, or does it still have the red and green letterings?
5. Does the Paramount logo at the top of the label contain the Viacom byline below it, or is it still bylineless?
6. Was this featured in one of your home media update videos? If so, which one?

The Rugrats Movie VHS (The "Special Columbia House Video Club Edition" copy that has no trailers and is in a vermilion dark-orange cassette)

[edit]

I've heard rumors that those copies feature "deleted" scenes, but I do not know if this really is true.

And I know you have that exact copy too. So I'd like to know whether or not these copies do have those so-called "deleted" scenes like those rumors have stated.

2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:D2A:19E5:E161:8622 01:43, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

I'll check at some point. --TheVideoLover (talk) 02:48, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

VBI

[edit]

How do you verify the VBI codes on your tapes? --IlCattivo25 (talk) 02:12, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

On VCRS that I had which sometimes show the VBI on tapes, I captured as I pressed stop and play repeatedly until it came up, then I took a screenshot of what came up. --TheVideoLover (talk) 03:13, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

For me, my current VCR is connected to a multi-input switcher box (which to be exact carries 8 inputs). I also have a DVD player connected to the switcher box. I usually switch back and forth between the VCR and DVD player inputs when they are both on at the same time, in order to show the VBI on my tapes. Previously, on my previous VCR, I’d sometimes mess with the tracking control in order to show the VBI. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:21A8:C95A:76F9:A135 03:49, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

Paramount Home Entertainment

[edit]

What is the latest tape you have from this company in which the date code on the tape guard says PAR, and what is the earliest you have where DLX is in the date code? I'm asking this because as of yesterday, I now have an SP mode "Special Columbia House Video Club Edition" (CHC) reprint of "A Rugrats Passover", and the date code on the tape guard says DLX (in lieu of CHC or PAR) 920 (20th week of 1999), which, interestingly enough, is the same date code as that "Bob and Margaret Volume 1" tape you have that does say PAR in the date code. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:21A8:C95A:76F9:A135 03:08, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

I may need to check again. --TheVideoLover (talk) 23:05, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

VCA-Teletronics

[edit]

How do you know they also used those printings? --IlCattivo25 (talk) 07:41, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Because I saw a few eBay listings that had these printings, those being Gerbert: Hop to It (7/19/90) and Hugo: The Storm, The Land, The People (11/12/89). I think my copy of the Direct Cinema Limited VHS of Knick Knack had these printings as well. I sold my copy of said tape on eBay a few years back. --TheVideoLover (talk) 08:03, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

This could damn well change everything. I just gotta take a closer look at what little I have of the late '80s/early '90s Teletronics printings with the tape guard sticker. --IlCattivo25 (talk) 08:42, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Which tape do you have with this date code that has the "DELUXE01" VBI code? 2600:387:C:711B:0:0:0:A 20:47, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

  • I think it's his promotional copy of The Nuttiest Nutcracker. --IlCattivo25 (talk) 20:55, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

RVSA34

[edit]

That "Arthur's New Puppy" tape with this code printed in the VBI - does it also have the two sets of numbers printed in the VBI at the very beginning, and does it have the 1000 Hz toned white screen (aka "White Screen of Death"), or the silent one, at the end? 98.72.170.104 06:45, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

It does have the two sets of numbers, and it has the 1000hz tone over the white screen.--TheVideoLover (talk) 07:09, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Is there a date code on the tape guard? 2600:387:F:5C17:0:0:0:C 13:52, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Nope. --TheVideoLover (talk) 23:09, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Deluxe ITF prefixes

[edit]

We are seriously going to have to consider splitting that page; I now get a 504 error on the current differences page even though the only edit of the day so far didn't even crack 2000 characters. --IlCattivo25 (talk) 05:42, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

I didn't mean to make the differences page crash, but I respect your idea to split the page. --TheVideoLover (talk) 06:02, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Only question is, how do we split it? --IlCattivo25 (talk) 06:07, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

I really don't know. --TheVideoLover (talk) 06:42, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Gullah Gullah Island: Feelings 2002 Reprint

[edit]
  1. What exactly does the date code on the tape guard say on that copy of the tape you have? Also, on the face label on the tape, does the copyright at the bottom say 2000, 2001, or 2002?
  2. Does it still use the original 1998 master, or does it use a newer master?
  3. Does this have the orange Columbia House "CHC" seal, the regular Paramount seal, or the 90th anniversary Paramount seal?

69.85.235.3 14:11, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

  1. DLX 231, I believe 2002
  2. 1998 master
  3. 90th Anniversary seal--TheVideoLover (talk) 23:19, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Although this must be in the standard play mode, does the label still say "Duplicated in EP/SLP"? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:85B3:A8B:452F:B31D 02:30, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

It is indeed in SP mode, but I'll need to re-look at the label again.--TheVideoLover (talk) 03:34, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

Any other Paramount standard play tapes you have that have the "Duplicated in EP/SLP" note on the packaging and/or face label? I know of two that had it on the face label (but not the packaging) - "Blue's Clues: ABC's and 123's" and "Blue's Clues: Rhythm and Blue." (only, the note was written in all caps as "DUPLICATED IN EP/SLP.") (I only have the former right now, which my copy had the orange Columbia House "CHC" seal.) My current copies of "A Rugrats Passover" (DLX 920) and "A Rugrats Chanukah" (DLX 135) (which also had the orange Columbia House "CHC" seal) are also in SP, yet the "Duplicated in EP/SLP" note is still on the packagings and face labels. 69.85.235.3 17:15, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

Little Bear: Rainy Day Tales and Little Bear: Little Sherlock Bear are like that on the cases. --TheVideoLover (talk) 23:08, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

What do the date codes say on the tape guard for your copies of those? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:DCC:AFD0:C3F9:CBEA 00:00, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

DLX 020 and DLX 103, respectively. --TheVideoLover (talk) 00:48, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

On your copy of the former, is the label entirely blue lettered, or does it still have the red and green letterings? 69.85.235.3 19:53, 16 January 2025 (UTC)

It was the latter. TheVideoLover (talk) 00:14, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

Can you post pictures of the tapes here? --IlCattivo25 (talk) 09:08, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

I don't think I can do pictures, but I can try to tell you the week and year they were printed, where applicable.

  • Madonna: WBR 540
  • Kind Hearts and Coronets: N/A
  • Butterflies are Free: RCP 610
  • Phil Collins - No Jacket Required EP: ATV 538
  • Plenty: TEV 612
  • Teen Wolf: PAR 602

I hope this helps. --TheVideoLover (talk) 10:04, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

It helped for one of them: Kind Hearts and Coronets. As for the others, I'll need to know whether they had a barcode sticker on the tape guard. --IlCattivo25 (talk) 10:20, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

Well, as soon as I can check my copies of the aforementioned tapes again, I promise I'll be sure to let you know. --TheVideoLover (talk) 10:21, 10 January 2025 (UTC)

On your copy of that tape with the "MEN IN BLACK CH 36" VBI code, what do the printings on the bottom spine of the cassette say (Besides the November 30, 1997 mfg. print date)? Also, was there anything engraved on the left or right side of the cassette?

UAV's quality troubles notwithstanding, which was the better high-speed duplication system? --IlCattivo25 (talk) 22:12, 19 March 2025 (UTC)

That's a bit of a toughie. What do you think? --TheVideoLover (talk) 06:21, 20 March 2025 (UTC)

I'd suspect that the Sprinter was better; I've encountered Sprinter'd tapes that appeared to be slightly better quality than TMD'd ones. 69.85.235.45 16:02, 20 March 2025 (UTC)

Any updates, I really would like to talk about this company to learn more things about it for the research I'm doing. CanucksFan2006 (talk) 20:53, 31 March 2025 (UTC)

On this particular copy of "BC: Cafe Blue", is the cassette housing orange or black? 2600:387:F:7F18:0:0:0:3 20:16, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

BC: Blue's Big Pajama Party (1999)

[edit]

If I remember correctly, your childhood copy of this tape is caseless, right? Did the slip sleeve get severely damaged at one point?

Also, how did the ITF barcode sticker on this particular tape finally begin to fade?

12.75.115.123 01:37, 26 June 2025 (UTC)

This was my childhood copy, and I lost the case many years ago. Also, I don't know how the barcode faded. --TheVideoLover (talk) 04:01, 26 June 2025 (UTC)

"What Dreams May Come" academy screener VHS tape

[edit]

Although the tape still works, did you manage to get off whatever that broken piece was in the cassette? It looked to me like a broken piece of one of the reel lenses. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:BC18:518F:EA95:D326 21:39, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

I actually did manage to get it out! --TheVideoLover (talk) 22:09, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

Did you take the cassette apart, or did the piece eventually fall out without you taking it apart? 207.104.43.8 23:00, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

I had to take it apart so as to see if it would make things easier. --TheVideoLover (talk) 23:26, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

Rugrats DVDs

[edit]

Since you have Decade in Diapers and TFTC: Snow White on DVD, what do the VIDEO_TS folder dates on those say?

Also, do you have TFTC: Three Jacks and a Beanstalk?

2600:387:15:2F17:0:0:0:6 04:10, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

I do not have TJAAB so far. As for the former two, I'll check as soon as I possibly can. --TheVideoLover (talk) 04:37, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Roxanne VHS

[edit]

Weird - your copy is in the 2000 Columbia Pics box, but was actually mfd. in early 1999? Was this tape brand new sealed when you got it? 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:A08D:2427:2A44:3A6 05:25, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

I think it was in the Columbia Pics case, hence why I used it as the thumbnail. I can't remember if it was sealed or not. --TheVideoLover (talk) 06:10, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

[edit]

My copy of "Blue's Clues: Blue's Birthday" (which I got today) has that same year-week mfg. date and the same "DELUXE86" code printed in the VBI as that other copy that was already on the Deluxe Media Services VBI suffixes page.

Out of curiosity, is that other copy with those same credentials yours or did you find it in an upload on YouTube?

If it's yours, do you remember at the moment what the digits on the tape guard ITF barcode sticker say?

It was a YouTube upload that I saw it in. --TheVideoLover (talk) 02:36, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

MediaCopy and Cassette Productions

[edit]

Honestly kind of weird that you actually have a couple Orion EP/SLP tapes and one Bridgestone EP/SLP tape that ended up being defective in a similar manner to that Heidi's Christmas Sterling Entertainment Group tape that JHart had.

Were all of them sealed, or only two of them (either both Orion tapes, or one Orion and one Bridgestone)?

Also, what are the names of all of these, and for the Orion tapes, what do the matrix-printings overall on the bottom spine of the cassettes look like?

Plus, were you even able to fix the defects on these?

2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:2886:8554:9CA8:A21C 00:36, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

The MediaCopy tapes were both sealed when I got them. One of them was "No Way Out." I'll need to look at the printings on that again. The Cassette Productions tape was Where the Red Fern Grows. --TheVideoLover (talk) 05:18, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

Falling In Love Again (Front Row Video w/Jenal Entertainment logo on the box)

[edit]

Is there no face label on this tape? 'Cause I believe this tape might be a reprint. 68.35.208.19 17:43, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

There is a face label.--TheVideoLover (talk) 22:39, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

Even though the Front Row logo on the box says "Video," does the face label also say "Front Row Video" or does it say "Front Row Entertainment"? Two copies I have seen on eBay say Entertainment on the face label with the copyright notice dated 1995. 2600:387:2:813:0:0:0:92 00:45, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

I think it says Front Row Video.--TheVideoLover (talk) 08:41, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

In that case, I'm guessing the copyright notice might be dated 1992 (or possibly 1991). The actual 1990 release was likely by just Jenal, if that happened (I haven't seen a copy with a Jenal face label yet so potentially this may have ended up delayed), and their rights to this film must have been handed over to Front Row after Jenal shut down (despite many other Jenal titles, mostly previously from Bingo Video, being re-released by Burbank Video in 1991). 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:988D:F8D0:7EA3:D10 16:16, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Seventh digit "7" in the ITF barcode on Deluxe North Little Rock tapes

[edit]

Were there actually any 2003-05 tapes with this seventh digit that you've known of? JurieJerrdan (talk) 03:04, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

Not so far. But I checked a couple of the tapes that I have like that (as well as a few with the number 4 as the seventh barcode digit), and they don't have anything too special at the beginning or end, even at the points where the clear leader is. Here's proof featuring one tape that I checked (which has the 7 as the seventh barcode digit). The tape in question being used in that YouTube upload that I linked is my 2001 copy of All in the Family: Archie Tells It Like It Is. As for what you'll see in this upload, the same is true for the others that I remember checking so far. --TheVideoLover (talk) 03:22, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

I've already seen the video as a matter of fact. If possible, I'd suggest you do the following changes on the main page for Deluxe (I had suggested these to IlCattivo25 earlier).

The notation that "all tapes duplicated in North Little Rock were duplicated at double-speed" should probably be removed.
"8: North Little Rock (1995-2005)" should be "8: North Little Rock, double-speed (1995-2005)"
"7: Garden Grove (1989-1999); North Little Rock, Otari TMD (2001-2002); North Little Rock (2001-2005)" should probably be "7: Garden Grove (1989-1999); North Little Rock, Otari TMD (2000-2002); North Little Rock, double-speed (2000-2003)". This especially means that "4: Northbrook, Otari TMD (1997-2001)" should be "4: Northbrook, Otari TMD (1997-2000)". The earliest North Little Rock "7" tape I have seen was DLX 046 (confirmed by a reprint copy of "A Rugrats Vacation" that is still TMD and EP/SLP, which I saw in a YouTube upload).

JurieJerrdan (talk) 04:16, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

I did it. BTW, may I have the link to the upload you saw with that copy of A Rugrats Vacation? --TheVideoLover (talk) 00:00, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

Here you go. Segment begins at around the "04:57" mark. You can kind of see the barcode digits but not very clearly. JurieJerrdan (talk) 00:51, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
