My copy's the US copy, and the day-year code's 22789. (227th day of 1989, or August 15, 1989) - Simas

The 1989 release date according to Disney Wiki was September 28th. Your copy is probably an early pressing. By the way, does your copy have the phone dial-tones [DTMF signaling] at the beginning and end? There is no barcode sticker on the tape itself, and it indeed does have the DTMF tones at the beginning and end. - Simas

If you still have the circa 1990s VHS print of that film, what type of label on the front does your copy of that version have? Horizontal ink-label or vertical sticker-label?
