Rugrats: Chuckie The Brave

[edit]

There seems to be some debate over certain copies of the 1996 Paramount re-release of this tape. One user commented on the "Proof That My 1993 VHS Of Rugrats: A Baby's Gotta Do What A Baby's Gotta Do Has A Strange VHS Ending" video about his/her copy of the 1996 "Chuckie the Brave" VHS, saying that his/her copy had five episodes rather than just four. He/she claims that his/her copy of the tape included the episode "The Inside Story" following "Chuckie vs. the Potty" and preceding "Chuckie's Wonderful Life".

I have no idea if there really exists such a copy, or if this user is just nuts. The 1996 release normally had the "Rugrats Rap" music video following the Potty episode and preceding the Wonderful Life episode. Heck, even my copy of this tape (which is in the 1998 packaging and was manufactured during the 34th week of 1999) has the Rugrats Rap music video, but not that "Inside Story" episode that user was talking about. Leads me to wonder if this user just got this re-release tape mixed up with the 1996 Paramount re-release of the "A Baby's Gotta Do What a Baby's Gotta Do" VHS.

1999-2000 VHS Releases

[edit]

Since most, if not all, copies of "Make Room for Dil" were dubbed in SP instead of EP/SLP and later post-April 2000 printings of "Babies on Board/Discover America", were dubbed in SP (earlier pre-April 2000 printings, including my DLX 014 printing of "Discover America", were dubbed in EP/SLP), I wonder if later printings of "I Think I Like You" were dubbed in SP instead of EP/SLP. 69.85.235.235 15:07, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

More Hard to Find Tapes

[edit]

I've recently discovered a sealed 2003 later printing of "Rugrats: Halloween" on eBay, in which the manufacturing date is on the right side of the cassette. The date is the 32nd week of 2003 (332) but instead of "DLX 332" the date is rendered as "332 DLX", thus being upside down.

Pretty soon I might get this specific copy of the tape, and, once I get it and take it out of the shrinkwrap, see if it still uses the original 2002 release's master when I decide to watch it.

Also, I recently bought the VHS release of "All Grown Up!: R.V. Having Fun Yet?", specifically a copy of the tape manufactured on September 15, 2005 at 12:41 PM EDT (091505-1241) from eBay, which will come in the mail in a few days. Besides that tape, the only "All Grown Up!" tapes I own currently are "Growing Up Changes Everything" and "Dude, Where's My Horse?"; my copy of the former manufactured during the 49th week of 2003 (DLX 349), and my copy of the latter a Canadian printing (albeit manufactured in the U.S.), manufactured on June 15, 2005 at 12:37 PM (061505-1237).

Toys in the Attic

[edit]

Isn't it funny how, in the middle of that episode, Boris and Minka Kropotkin were arguing over who gets to turn on the television to let Tommy and Angelica Pickles watch "Sesame Seed" (Sesame Street)? Considering Angelica's verbal interactions with Tommy and his friends in several episodes of the show (especially her calling them "dumb babies" all the time), I personally could imagine Angelica's opinion on this "Sesame Seed" show, had she and Tommy both been able to watch it.

Recycled Sound Clips

[edit]

For those who’ve seen the original Rugrats series and the movies, have you noticed how some episodes (and the movies) had contained recycled sound clips from other episodes?

Here are some examples:

  • Tommy Pickles' "WAAAAH, AAAHHH!" sound clip was heard in several episodes, including Touchdown Tommy, The Trial, Grandpa Moves Out, The Mysterious Mr. Friend, etc. and the first movie.
  • "Forget you too, man!", a quote said by Steve (who's frenemies (a combination of enemy and friend) with Larry) in response to Larry telling him "Forget you!", was heard in two episodes: At the Movies and Incident in Aisle Seven (which is ironic, as when Larry said "Forget you!" in the latter episode, a re-recorded clip of that one was used, instead of a recycled one).
  • Angelica's "WAAAAH" screaming clip was heard in Slumber Party and Touchdown Tommy.
    • Her louder scream was heard in a few episodes, including The Seven Voyages of Cynthia and Party Animals; only in the former they slightly extended the sound clip.

English Paramount Black Cassette Reprints

[edit]

So far, I know of the black cassette printings of the English Paramount "The Santa Experience", "Vacation", "Chanukah", "Bedtime Bash" and "Discover America" tapes; but I wonder if anyone has any 2001-2006 black cassette printings of the other pre-2001 English Paramount Rugrats tapes. For example, "Chuckie the Brave", "Angelica the Divine", "Passover", "Phil and Lil: Double Trouble", "Tommy Troubles", "Return of Reptar", "Grandpa's Favorite Stories", "Thanksgiving", "Diapered Duo", "Dr. Tommy Pickles", "Mommy Mania", "Angelica Knows Best", "Runaway Reptar", "Make Room for Dil", and "I Think I Like You". 69.85.235.229 12:49, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

According to PlayDay Fox Productions' comment on this opening to a black cassette printing of "Chanukah" today, he saw a black cassette printing of "Chuckie the Brave" in mid-2005--Pinkie Pie Jr. (talk) 14:36, 18 September 2025 (UTC)

I wish I found evidence of what he's referring to. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:E9F8:F26A:7454:C32E 20:22, 18 September 2025 (UTC)

I also found a black cassette printing of "I Think I Like You" on eBay yesterday.--Pinkie Pie Jr. (talk) 21:38, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

And as of this writing, I just found what you're talking about. I see the copyright date at the bottom of the face label on it says 2001 and it's still in EP/SLP. I wonder what the ITF barcode digits say on this, as well as the year/week of mfg., which no doubt is probably late 2001/early 2002. 2601:4C4:4000:A8C0:1C72:EE97:FDFD:2197 23:08, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

Possibility of a Different Duplicator

[edit]

As of today, someone on eBay currently has a copy of "A Rugrats Vacation" for sale.

This copy is interesting. This has the Paramount logo watermarkings against the right side of the cassette, rather than the left spine of the sleeve, and the shrinkwrap fold on the back of the sleeve is horizontal rather than vertical. That leads me to wonder if this copy came from a different duplicator.

Speaking of "Toys in the Attic"

[edit]

I think I've just realized that this S02 episode of Rugrats may have indirectly predicted the formation of a certain network with two Ns, an O, two Gs, and an I (today, that network is known as the 24/7 Nick Jr. Channel). 2600:387:F:7F15:0:0:0:8 05:54, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
