Sterling Home Entertainment was a home video label formed in 1998 as a joint venture between Scanbox International and Lions Gate Films. It absorbed the home video business of defunct distributor Imperial Entertainment. The titles were originally distributed by MTI Home Video through a chain of retailers. It handled distribution of the Scanbox and Lions Gate libraries.
In early 2000, Sterling Home Entertainment was renamed to Studio Home Entertainment to avoid confusion with Sterling Entertainment Group. Lions Gate soon took full control of the home video label.
