Rank Video Library

History
[edit]Rank Video Library was founded in December 1980 as the home video arm of the Rank Organization. It was notably founded after Rank ended film production; most of Rank's new releases on the video front were American efforts, particularly offerings from the Orion and Cannon libraries. This was also true of some homegrown productions, including The Bostonians and The Fourth Protocol. Between 1986 and 1988, it handled the distribution contract for Buena Vista Home Video. In 1989, Rank closed its video arm, but in 1992, it was resurrected briefly for Pickwick-distributed titles.
