This home video label was launched after Disney acquired Miramax Films in June 1993. In 2010, Disney sold off Miramax Films to Filmyard Holdings. Then in 2016, the company was sold to beIN Media Group. Around early 2020, beIN sold a 49% stake in the company to ViacomCBS, now known as Paramount Global. Since then, Paramount Global has owned the North American rights to most of Miramax Films' library, including the pre-early 2005 library of Dimension Films, with international rights held by beIN Media Group.
