In 1985, Walter Gernert, co-founder of his adult video company VCA Pictures, set up Magnum Entertainment to market and distribute home video releases. The company launched a sublabel Sagebrush Productions to handle marketing of its titles from the library. The company had a deal with Image Entertainment to distribute its titles on Laserdisc and Starmaker Entertainment to handle sell through titles.
The company's titles were primarily of action, horror and western films. In 1990, it launched a sublabel ME2 to handle titles. The company went bust around 1991.
