The first six Rugrats videos were re-released with a bonus episode included, to coincide with the release of two new Rugrats videos. The earliest copies of these releases were likely printed in July 1996, a month after Sony Music Entertainment's Sony Wonder division lost the video and music rights to Nickelodeon titles, with Paramount Home Video taking over marketing and distribution of the video labelrights.

Re-issues of the first six videos open with promos for ''The Rugrats Video Collection'' and the ''Paramount Family Favorites'' line, followed by a promo for ''Charlotte's Web'' and ''Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown'' from Paramount Home Video and ''The Secret Garden'' from ABC Video.

These re-issues were exclusively duplicated and distributed in the U.S. Beginning in the end of this month, duplicator Rank Video Services America phased out the 18-digit barcode stickers in favor of the then-standard ones with four sets each of 6-digit codes and began using codes on the left-hand corner of the vertical blanking intervals consisting of the first three, four, five or six digits from the barcode stickers on the tapes (without the extra zeros in front of them) and five other digits.
