HGV Video Productions
History[edit]
HGV Video Productions Inc. was a Canadian home video company that was originally formed in 1989 as a joint venture between GoodTimes Entertainment and the Handleman Company, the latter which owned distributors such as Video Treasures, Viking Entertainment and MNTEX Entertainment at the time. In 1994, following Handleman's acquisition of Starmaker Entertainment, HGV began distributing titles from said company. At one point in the 1990s, HGV also distributed releases from WarnerVision Entertainment in Canada. In 2000, just a half decade after Handleman combined Video Treasures and Starmaker to form Anchor Bay Entertainment, GoodTimes divested its control of HGV, resulting in Handleman assuming 100% control of HGV. The company was renamed to Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada Ltd. on August 1, 2002.
