Celebrity Home Entertainment
History
[edit]Celebrity Home Entertainment was a home video label formed in 1987 by Noel C. Bloom, founder of International Video Entertainment and Caballero Control Corporation. The company had its own duplication unit, Celebrity Duplicating Services, Inc., which was formed as a result of Creative Video Services being spun off.
The company spawned four imprints:
- Celebrity Video - miscellaneous product
- Just for Kids - children's product
- Let's Party - adult-oriented product
- Feature Creatures - creature titles
Additionally, Bloom founded another home video label in 1988 that was initially separate from Celebrity, called Unicon Communications, which released public domain product. Celebrity itself unsuccessfully tried to purchase Video Gems in the midst of Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings.
The company soon shifted its focus to children's product under the Just for Kids imprint. In fact, newer public domain cartoon titles would be released under the Just for Kids imprint after Unicon was folded in 1992, though reissues of former Unicon product came under the Celebrity Video imprint, often still using Unicon's face labels.
In 2001, the company was absorbed into Sterling Entertainment Group.
