- February 20: Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment secures an agreement with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to market and distribute titles in the U.S. and Canada. As a result, WDSHE has dropped Buena Vista Home Entertainment as its legal name.
- May: SPHE's distribution pact with WDSHE takes effect.
- June 24: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment secured a distribution deal with Studio Distribution Services.
