- February: Decal Releasing starts home video operations by Neon and Bleecker Street after their existing deals with Universal expired.
- February 8: Shout! Factory and Laika secured a home entertainment distribution deal.
- February 26: Lionsgate's distribution agreement with 20th Century Home Entertainment, which was inherited from Artisan following their purchase, lapsed, and distribution shifted to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
- April 14: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment merged their North American operations, forming Studio Distribution Services.
- July 15: Lionsgate acquired a stake in Spyglass Media Group, and acquired the library of The Weinstein Company outright.
