[edit]- February 14: The Ultra HD Blu-ray was launched by the Blu-ray Disc Association.
- February 23: Entertainment One secured a deal with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment for its titles worldwide.
- March 15: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment secures a deal with Monentum Pictures to distribute its films worldwide, except Canada.
- August 22: DreamWorks Animation was sold to Comcast, owners of Universal Pictures. As a result, future DreamWorks animated titles, including existing catalog titles begin to be distributed by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
- December 8: Lionsgate Entertainment acquired Starz Inc., thus absorbing Anchor Bay Entertainment into Lionsgate Home Entertainment.
