[edit]- January 4: Starz Media sold its 25% stake in Anchor Bay Entertainment to The Weinstein Company, and took over distribution of TWC's titles from Sony Pictures.
- February 11: Miramax, which had been split from Disney, secured deals with Lionsgate and StudioCanal for distribution of its titles.
- February 17: Miramax secured another home video deal with Echo Bridge Entertainment to release back catalog titles.
- April 4: Navarre sold its Funimation company to a group of investors that included Gen Fukanga for $24 million.
- May: Shout! Factory secured a deal with Nickelodeon to release its titles on home video.
- May 4: Mill Creek Entertainment secured a deal with The Carsey-Werner Company to release its titles on home video.
- June 16: Mini-major Open Road Films had secured a pact with Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
- December: As part of a restructuring of Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products, management of Nickelodeon Home Entertainment was transferred to Nickelodeon Digital Media from Nickelodeon Entertainment Products.
