[edit]- February: Cinram terminates its duplicating deal with Warner Home Video. As a result, Technicolor, who previously duplicated videotapes for Warner Home Video, took over distribution.
- February 21: The Weinstein Company made a deal with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to market and distribute its home video titles.
- May 11: Lionsgate secured a deal with Newmarket Films to handle the company's library on home video.
- May 24: Vivendi Entertainment secured a deal to release Sid & Marty Krofft's shows on home video.
- June: The last major motion picture was released on UMD Video for PSP in North America.
- June 22: The first wide-release Blu-ray 3D title was issued in the United States.
- September 27: The newly-formed FilmDistrict secures a deal with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for home video distribution.
- Late: The South Korean VHS release of Inception becomes the last wide-release VHS title issued in the world.
