WEA Manufacturing Inc.

From Home Video

History[edit]

WEA Manufacturing Inc. was the record, cassette and CD manufacturing arm of Warner Music Group. The arm was formed sometime in 1978, when Warner Communications acquired the Specialty Record Corporation in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, and exclusively provided audio duplication in its early years, but over a decade later, the arm began duplicating videocassettes in addition to audio products. The arm also duplicated some LaserDiscs in the 1990s. In 1996, the Specialty Record Corporation was merged into WEA Manufacturing and the company launched a duplication arm for DVDs named Warner Advanced Media Operations (WAMO). In October 2003, the arm was sold to Cinram International Inc.
