City of Lost Toys - DVD Bonus Episode Selection[edit]

The bonus episode selection on the DVD version of "City of Lost Toys" is derived from the "Swing Into Action!" VHS.

Bonus Episodes:

Berry Hunt

However, a remastered video master is used for this selection.

Differences:

- On the remastered master, the original closing credits sequences with the original "Character Find" segments were restored, compared to the original master for the "Swing Into Action!" VHS which used a "made-for-video" closing credits sequence with the "Character Find" segment derived from the "Berry Hunt" episode.

- Also on the remastered master, after the 1999 Nick Jr. Productions logo at the end of the "Berry Hunt" episode, the Nick Jr. "Monkeys" and Nickelodeon "Haypile" logos are shown, compared to the original master for the "Swing Into Action!" VHS, which included the Nick Jr. "Bears" and Nickelodeon "Bone" logos.

Not only that, but the copyright portion of the copyright/trademark notice byline below the Nickelodeon "Haypile" logo, on the remastered master, was dated 2002. In fact, the Nickelodeon "Haypile" logo's copyright/trademark notice byline is in the same format variation as on the VHS and DVD versions of "Map Adventures" (released on February 4, 2003). "City of Lost Toys" was released on June 3, 2003, following "Map Adventures".

VHS copies of "Swing Into Action!" that were pressed after 2002/2003 still used the original 2001 master, to my knowledge.

This leads me to wonder if the "Swing Into Action!" bonus selection was originally prepared for the DVD version of "Map Adventures" before a last-minute change occurred during production of the DVD's contents; either that and/or the remastered master used for the selection was originally prepared for copies of the "Swing Into Action!" VHS pressed after 2002/2003, quickly before they (Nickelodeon/Paramount) decided to remain stuck with the original 2001 master instead, probably figuring that the newly remastered master was not important. (The finalized release of "Map Adventures" on DVD has the bonus selection from the "To the Rescue" VHS instead, except the original master for the VHS for said selection on the DVD is used, as it still uses the "made-for-video" closing credits sequence and Nick Jr. "Bears" and Nickelodeon "Bone" logos at the end.)
