Line 1:
This label was formed as a result of the formation of a new division of Nickelodeon in June 1993, called Nickelodeon Entertainment Products, with Catherine Mullally as vice president of the new division; the formation of the new division was in turn a result of an agreement that Viacom-owned MTV Networks secured with [[Sony Music Entertainment]] in May 1993, which gave Sony Music the video and music rights to programs from Nickelodeon. This was not Nickelodeon's first foray onto home video; in 1988, they secured agreements with Warner Home Video to release VHS tapes of ''Pinwheel'' and GoodTimes' Kids Klassics division to release VHS tapes of ''Double Dare'', and in 1989, they secured an agreement with Elektra Entertainment to release its entire catalog on home video, but sales flopped.

NOTE: Ever since [[Paramount Home Media Distribution|Paramount Home Video]] took over marketing and distribution of the video label from Sony Music Entertainment's Sony Wonder division in July 1996, all Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. video releases, as well as all ads for them, from that point on carried either the Nickelodeon or Nick Jr. branding with no video indicator whatsoever (unless you count the DVD releases from 2002 to 2008).
