May 1988
Due to the success of the Black Diamond Classics series, which launched in 1984, the Mini-Classics series was expected to be the big selling series from Disney at the time that it was launched, starting with a four-part offering topped off by “Mickey’s Magical World,” in honor of Mickey Mouse’s 60th birthday. The other three were “Mickey and the Beanstalk,” “Donald in Mathmagic Land” and “The Reluctant Dragon.” These first four titles do not have any promos at the end of the videos.

- This title was originally a short, but eventually became a segment of the 40-minute version of the same name that was released over 5 months later.
- Contains a bonus cartoon short, "Morris, the Midget Moose" (1950) at the end of the video.
- When the 1986 Walt Disney Home Video “Sorcerer Mickey” logo at the beginning of this release of the title starts to fade out, you can faintly hear the 1986 video dealer announcement. This was likely due to a print-mastering error.
- At the end of the video, there is a copyright notice dated from 1987, outsourced from the original 1987 standard release of this title.

Starting in this month of 1989, the Winnie the Pooh featurettes on home video were released in the series, coinciding with the video release of "Bambi". In fact, an insert booklet that comes with the "Bambi" video release advertises the titles released in this batch.
Copies of these releases prior to August 1989 use the 15-second freezing cut-out Mini-Classics logo variation, while copies printed after use the 2-second freezing fade-out variation.

Pre-May 1989 releases were re-issued at this time with Proof of Purchase tab labels in very strange text fonts printed below the back covers. On these re-issues, the Mini-Classics logo is omitted from the front tape label if it is a horizontal ink-label, also applying to select releases that already had Proof of Purchase tab labels to begin with, which exclude "Mickey's Christmas Carol," "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," and "The Small One." In addition to the ink-label differences, there would be no Sorcerer Mickey placement template on the label. These particular re-issues coincided with Disney's "A Beauty of a Gift" promotion.
