ABC Video Enterprises
History
ABC Video Enterprises was formed in 1979 by American Broadcasting Companies to develop and market programing domestically for cable, pay cable, videodisks, cassettes and other new communications forms.
The first client signed was Magnetic Video Corporation, who was a leading video distributor. Other companies followed suit using the ABC Video Enterprises label for any content they had under license from ABC. In 1987, reflecting the purchase by Capital Cities, the company name was changed to Capital Cities/ABC Video Enterprises.
In 1992, this was changed, with Capital Cities/ABC entering home video publication under the name Capital Cities/ABC Video Publishing and initially signed with Warner-Elektra-Atlantic Corporation. The company also launched the label, Signet Video. In 1994, distribution was moved to Paramount Home Video and the Signet label was changed to Summa Video.
