- February: Decal Releasing starts home video operations by Neon and Bleecker Street after its existing deals with Universal expired.
- February 26: Lionsgate's distribution agreement with 20th Century Home Entertainment, which inherited from Artisan following their purchase lapsed, and distribution shifted to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
- April 14: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment merged their North American operations, forming Studio Distribution Services.
- July 15: Lionsgate acquired a stake in Spyglass Media Group, and acquired outright the library of The Weinstein Company.
