ABC Video

From Home Video

Capital Cities/ABC Video Publishing, doing business as ABC Video, was the home video distribution subsidiary of Capital Cities/ABC, formed in 1992 with a sales and distribution pact with Warner-Elektra-Atlantic Corporation. ESPN Home Video, itself a division of ESPN, which ABC held a stake in at the time, became part of the new subsidiary in July 1993. In addition, this subsidiary formed the division Signet Video.

In 1994, sales and distribution for Capital Cities/ABC Video Publishing moved to Paramount Home Video and the Signet label was renamed to Summa Video. In 1997, a year after The Walt Disney Company acquired Capital Cities/ABC and months after Capital Cities/ABC was renamed to ABC, Inc., Capital Cities/ABC Video Publishing terminated its sales and distribution pact with Paramount Home Video and was merged into sister company Buena Vista Home Video. The ABC Video label would not be dissolved until 1999, a year after BVHV itself became Buena Vista Home Entertainment.
